#9 TED Talk

Education is not for grades

1. What's variable is when and how long a student actually has to work on something, and what's fixed is that they actually master the material.

2. You should have grit; you should have perseverance; you should take agency over your learning.

3.And in a lot of ways, this is how you would master a lot of things in life.

4.And in a lot of ways, this is how you would master a lot of things in life.

5.When you get something wrong, embrace it -- view that failure as a moment of learning

The content of this talk is about learning.  I think we should have a thought that you have to strengthen your basis whatever you learn.  Thus, you will be willing to learn anything at the first time.  I want to share some experience with you.  I have learned math for over a decade.  Every time I did some math topics, however some bad feeling came to many mind.  That is because when I was child I a lot of math topics and I even don't know how to do.  From then on, I hated to do any practice about math.

#6 Steve Jobs’ Talk

Steve Jobs’ Talk

5 good sentences I learn

1.You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.

2. I still loved what I did.

3.Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did.

4.It just gets better and better as the years roll on.

5.Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.

My thought:

I think the most important thing I learn from Steve Jobs Talk is to find what you love.  It's sounds easy, but it's hard to reach.  I don't know what am I do in the future, and I even don't know what I really love to do.  I don't like some subjects I learn, but I still have to study.  I hope I can learn what I want to learn, but I can't.  I don't want to waste four years, so I will try my best to find what I want to do in my future.

#4 Six Minute English

The topic I choose is 'How to prepare for an exam'. It talks about some tips to prepare for your test. That is
  1. Summarising, highlighting or underlining text to help you remember it.
  2. You need to test yourself on your subject which was said by John Dunlosky, Professor of Psychology at Kent State University in the US.
  3. John Dunlosky also mentioned that make flashcards of critical or important concepts and then testing yourself on them.
  4. Cramming method – which means to try and learn lots of information in a short period of time. For example, the night before the exam.
  5. Making different types of associations with what you're trying to learn – for example, musical associations.

#3 ESLPod.Com

I learn ESLPod.com from CALL class this week. I don't know what podcast is before, but after I use it. I think it a great website to introduce to everyone who wants to improve English.

Here is my comments on ESLPod.com:

1.It's useful for people who doesn't have enough time to study English. Because each article will            take you about twenty or thirty minute.

2.You can easily to study English everywhere if you have mobile phone. No matter you take a                 bus, MRT or just walk you still can learn English from this website.

3.You can know the details about words which you learn from ESLPod.com, through the                        explanation from the podcast teacher. I think it is efficient way to improve your English.

#1 It's my first article in English!!

Hello,
I'm Betty, from Zhongli but now I live in Taipei. This semester I want to have TOEIC test so I decide to enter the CALL class.  I like to watch Korea dramas in my free time but usually I don't have enough time to watch.  Most of my time is spent on jobs and classes.  Recently I feel that I spent too much time on works, so I want to improve myself in this semester especially my English.  I will do my best to manage my blog.  No matter who you are, hope you can enjoy my blog.  Thanks
